THE owner of a dog who went missing from Salisbury back in July has spoken of her joy after being reunited with him.
Eli the chocolate Labrador, was last seen at his home near Victoria Park on July 20. Police issued an appeal.
The three-year-old dog was found in Kent after being spotted on Friday and was later taken to Futures For Dogs where he was cared for overnight until he could be reunited with his family on Sunday.
Owner Jane Franchi, speaking about being reunited with Eli, said: “It is just lovely. He went a bit mad. He was very bouncy and happy when he saw us.”
A spokesperson for Futures For Dogs said seeing Eli being reunited with his family was like “Christmas, birthday and Easter all rolled into one”.
The first thing he did when he got home was to find his bed and get into it.
Jane says they were “really pleased” when they were told Eli had been found but added: “It was a mixed thing because we know the person that took him probably needed the company.
“I’m really happy for my daughter who has got her dog back.
“He has obviously been well looked after as much as the person was able.”
The family set up a Facebook page and the appeal to find Eli was shared far and wide on social media.
“I am so grateful to everyone that shared his story,” said Jane, who says the support from people has been “amazing” and also praised Doglost.
Jane is also urging owners to ensure their dog’s microchip details are up-to-date.
