A PLANNING application has been submitted to build a "residential gypsy and traveller site".
The site, at Tricky's Paddock on Brickworth Road in Whiteparish, will be for two pitches, each pitch accommodating two caravans, including no more than one static caravan/mobile home.
There will also be a dayroom together with the laying of hardstanding and installation of a package sewage treatment plant.
The current use of the site is part caravan site for one pitch and part grazing land, and a previous application to extend this site was granted on appeal in 2009, but the permission was temporary and subsequent applications and appeals have resulted in conditions limiting the duration of permission to be removed.
The application says all existing trees and hedge planting are to be protected during the development of the site with galvanized tree guards, and all soft landscaping comprised in the approved details of landscaping shall be carried out in the first planting and seeding season following the first occupation of the buildings or the completion of the development whichever is the sooner.
It also states that any trees or plants which, within a period of five years, die, are removed, or become seriously damaged or diseased shall be replaced in the next planting season with same.
Wiltshire Council currently own or operate six residential Gypsy sites around the county, providing a total of 96 pitches for semi-permanent residents.
This includes three sites in south Wiltshire which accommodates up to 87 people.
