A ROAD closure has been put in place on the Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA) to "protect the public from the risk of unexploded ordnance".
From today (Friday, July 24) the Central Range Road and Route 29 on SPTA will be closed to the public.
This is to allow clearance of the unexploded ordnance due to the military training that takes place in the area.
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) says "it has made the decision to restrict public access by road across part of the impact area on Salisbury Plain Training Area to protect the public from the risk of unexploded ordnance".
Lt Col Tim Jalland, DIO Commander South West Region, said: “This temporary closure is needed to protect the public.
“We will re-open the area when the ordnance has been cleared and the area is confirmed as safe.”
The public would normally have access to these roads when training is not taking place.
