A FURTHER patient who had tested positive for Covid-19 has died at Salisbury District Hospital.
This brings the total number of deaths to 53.
A spokesperson for the hospital said: "Sadly, a total of 53 patients who had tested positive for Covid-19 have died at Salisbury District Hospital.
"A man in his nineties, with pre-existing health conditions, died on 22nd May.
"Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”
The total number of Covid-19 associated UK deaths is 36,793, which have risen by 118.
NHS England's Professor Stephen Powis, during today's daily government briefing, said: "We are seeing less virus, less transmission of this virus in the community."
He also said in terms of the seven day rolling average there was a "steady but sustained decline in the number of deaths".
As of 5.07pm today(May 24) there are 523 confirmed cases in Wiltshire, an increase of one since yesterday (522) while cases in Swindon remain at 447.
In Hampshire, the total number of cases is 3,276, which has increased by 14 (3,262) from yesteday. However, cases in the New Forest remain at 274.
