A LONG-SERVING musician with Ringwood and Burley Band has retired.
John Tamplin, a member of the trombone section, has been a member of the band for 47 years.
He served as a musician in the Royal Air Force and was a member of the Far East Band based in Singapore.
On his return to the UK he joined the Western Band of the Royal Air Force. After leaving the service and later moving to the Ringwood area he joined the Ringwood and Burley Band in the early 1970s.
As well as being a playing member of the band John served on the committee and other offices during his years with the band.
John was presented with a cut glass engraved bowl by the chairman of Ringwood and Burley Band, Tony Mist, who thanked him for his many years of membership and involvement with the band during this long period and offered him best wishes for the future.
The presentation was held before social distancing came into force due to the coronvirus outbreak.
