ESSENTIAL repairs as well as a spring clean have been carried to the A36 Southampton Road in Salisbury.

Salisbury City Council teamed up with Idverde, Highways England and Ringway to repair the damaged central barrier, which had been left buckled following previous vehicle accidents.

The leader of the council, Councillor Jeremy Nettle said: “The difference the repairs and cleaning have made to this important entry route into Salisbury have made is brilliant. I am looking forward to seeing the results with my own eyes once the Covid - 19 restrictions are lifted. I would like to thank all those involved in making this happen for improving our city.”

During the road closure for the repair work the carriageway, central reservation, gullies and verges were cleaned. The work took place over two nights as the dirt and debris had be manually loosened before it could be swept up by mechanical sweepers.

The council says similar collaborations are expected to take place on other areas of the A36 City Ring Road as planned lighting and bridge works take place throughout the coming months.
