FORMER councillor David Law has been award the freedom of the parish for his services to the community and Laverstock and Ford Parish Council.
The honour was awarded during a special meeting of Laverstock and Ford Parish Council on February 17.
David began as a volunteer 12 ago to work on the parish plan, later becoming a parish councillor for eight years.
He then edited the forty-four page parish newsletter and served in this capacity for five years. David turned the bi-monthly newsletter into a must-read, informative magazine for every one of the 4,200 households in the parish.
Presenting the Freedom of the Parish scroll, Chairman Andy Birkett said "David’s voluntary commitment and dedication has been an enormous benefit to our community".
The ceremony at River Bourne Community Farm in Laverstock was also attended by three past chairmen of the parish council.
