A TAP dancing company, including a dancer from Salisbury, has returned from the world championships with four gold medals and a special accolade.
The International Dance Organisation’s (IDO) World Tap Championships in Germany saw Great Britain’s team, Tap Attack, securing a host of awards and trophies, in categories including Formations Junior and Groups Adults 2.
As well as two silver and four bronze results, the company also won the first ever IDO Award, congratulating the dancers' contribution and results.
Francoise Western, who is a Year 10 at South Wilts Grammar School, said it was “an amazing opportunity” to be a part of the UK team, adding: “To compete in all five categories in the [IDO] World Tap Championships and come home with two gold medals was a dream come true.”
Following the IDO award, Tap Attack’s head coach, Jo Scanlan, said: “This year the standard of the competition was at its highest we have ever seen, each country just gets stronger as the years go by.
“We knew it was going to be tough as the team has been very successful over the past few years, so returning to the world championships brings extra pressure and intense competition.
"Nevertheless, our dancers fought their way through the rounds and achieved exceptional results; the IDO Award presented to the entire team being the icing on the cake.”
