A CONSULTANT Psychiatrist in Salisbury has been recognised for his clinical work in the latest Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership (AWP) staff awards.
James McIntyre, who works at Fountain Way Hospital, received the Clinical Excellence award at the annual ceremony that took place on January 24, and was commended for his leadership skills and his relationship building with the rest of the team.
After the event, held at Apex City of Bath Hotel, James said it was “lovely” to receive the award, adding: “I would like to say I think this reflects the hard work in developing the service for patients by all the staff on Ashdown ward, as it has been a team effort.”
Around 200 members of staff from the NHS were invited to the event, in recognition of their contribution to caring, supporting and treating patients with mental health conditions across the region.
Out of the 12 awards presented, Amblescroft South Ward at Fountain Way Hospital secured the Team of the Year accolade, and Kristina Rees, ward manager at Green Lane Hospital in Devizes, bagged the Leading by Example award.
Charlotte Hitchings, chairman of AWP, said: “The AWP Staff Awards are now in their 10th year. It was inspiring to see the continued excellence and outstanding care the staff provide to patients and the support they give to families and carers.
“I would like to congratulate all of those nominated for their outstanding work and thank all our staff for their hard work and compassion.”
Dominic Hardisty, AWP chief executive, added: “Our staff work incredibly hard so it is important to recognise and commend them for their work.
"It was fantastic to hear about their achievements and I am proud to be leading an organisation where staff demonstrate such strong commitment and dedication to their patients, families and carers. Well done to all those nominated and of course the winners.”
