A POWER outage in the early hours of this morning was caused by a motorbike catching on fire.
90 people were impacted by a loss of power and the motorbike was destroyed as a result of the fire.
Scottish and Southern Electricity (SSE) said: "We were alerted to an incident before 8.00am this morning, and 90 customers were impacted by a loss of power.
"Engineers were dispatched to investigate, and utilising mobile generation, power was restored to all customers by 8.39am."
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "Two crews from Salisbury were called to Brunel Road at 11.59pm last night as a motorbike had caught fire within a high voltage electrical sub-station.
"Initially we could only maintain a safety cordon (to stop the fire from spreading) until engineers had been able to isolate the power, then one hose reel jet was used to extinguish. "The motorbike was destroyed. Our stop came at 2am."
The cause of the incident is still being investigated.
