SALISBURY City Council has been chosen as a finalist for a national award.

The council is one of three finalists for the National Association of Local Council's Council of the Year Award, 2019.

The award recognises the achievements of local parish and town councils, and celebrates the positive impact the councils have on their communities.

The winner is chosen by the public who vote for their favourite.

The other finalists are Woughton Community Council, in Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes, and Feock Parish Council in Cornwall.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Jeremy Nettle said, “I am delighted to hear that the City Council has been shortlisted for this National award. The City, residents and businesses had an extremely tough time in 2018 but it has to be said that I have been amazed at how many different groups and individuals have come together to support the Salisbury recovery.

"Over the last year Councillors and officers pulled together to not only show that Salisbury was operating as business as usual but we introduced a number of initiatives to make the City attractive, through our focus on street cleaning, upgrading the Shopmobility and events for our residents and visitors.

"I hope that as many people as possible vote for the Council to reflect the hard work that everyone has put in over the past year”.
