SOLDIERS from Perham Down-based 5 Squadron of 22 Engineer Regiment have deployed to Kenya to undertake building tasks to improve the infrastructure for British troops training in Kenya.
The men and women of 5 Squadron are in Kenya to build their part of an ambitious infrastructure programme that will eventually result in a large new training base for the British Army in Kenya.
Under their new squadron commander, Major Alex Eade, the troops arrived at their final destination Nanyuki, about three hours drive north of Nairobi, after the customary long delay at Brize Norton.
They spent the weekend getting arrival briefs, acclimatising and taking over stores and equipment.
They are currently responsible for three construction projects at separate sites within Lakipia Air Base (East) and are now well into their tasks.
