Scott Bartlett: DOB: 30/05/79. Birthplace: Salisbury. Locally-based player signed from Cirencester Town in February 2000. Formerly with AFC Bournemouth, his versatility and pace make him an important member of the side. Former club captain who recently made his 300th appearance for the club. Jon Bass: DOB: 1/1/76. Birthplace: Weston-super-Mare. An experienced right-sided or central defender, Jon joined the Whites in June 2006 from Bristol Rovers. His professional career began at Birmingham City where he made 72 appearances under Trevor Francis. Enjoyed spells with Hartlepool United, Carlisle United, Gillingham, Pahang FA (Malaysia) and Bristol Rovers. City stats: Apps: 21. Goals: 0.
Jon Beswetherick: DOB: 15/1/78. Birthplace: Liverpool. Signed from Forest Green Rovers in November 2005, Jon is an experienced player and his career has included spells with Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield Wednesday, Swindon Town, Bristol Rovers, Macclesfield and Kidderminster Harriers and Forest Green Rovers. Ironically, he played against Salisbury in November 2003 when the Whites visited Hillsborough in the First Round Proper of the FA Cup. City stats: 43. Goals: 1.
Tim Bond: DOB: 29/11/84. Birthplace: Carshalton. Signed in February 2004 from AFC Bournemouth. A consistent, solid central defender who was outstanding in Salisbury's promotion-winning side in the 2005/06 season. Recently made his 100th appearance for the club. City stats: Apps: 104. Goals: 7.
Simon Browne: DOB. 02/04/71. Birthplace: Weymouth. Rejoined the club in August 2005 from Weymouth where he started his career. Simon has also played from Swanage & Herston and Dorchester Town but left Dorchester to join Salisbury in March 1993. He had five successful years with the Whites - winning the Southern League title with them - before rejoining Weymouth in 1998. He is a versatile player and and an important member of the squad. Recently played his 300th game for the club. City stats: 302. Goals: 41.
Aaron Cook: DOB: 6/12/79. Birthplace: Caerphilly. Signed from Bashley in March 2004. Aaron started his career with Portsmouth (played one game) and has played for Crystal Palace, Swansea City, Exeter City and Havant & Waterlooville. He is a very talented and consistent player and a great acquisition for Salisbury City. Club captain, he led the team to last season's Southern League Premier Division title. City stats: Apps:130. Andy Cook: DOB: 10/08/69. Birthplace: Romsey. Signed from Millwall in October 1999, he started his Football League career with his hometown club Southampton, where he made 21 appearances, scoring once in the old First Division. He totalled over 200 appearances at first team level and scored six goals in spells with Swansea City, Exeter City, Portsmouth and Millwall. He is a good professional whose experience and ability benefits those around him. He is also the club's full-time Football in the Community Officer. Currently sidelined through injury (suffered a broken leg in last season's FA Trophy quarter-final at Exeter City). City stats: Apps: 245. Goals: 5.
Charlie Knight: DOB: 8/12/87. Birthplace: Winchester. A young prospect who has progressed through the club's youth and reserve team ranks. His performances in the 2004/05 season gained him a place in the reserves and put him in contention for the first team. Was promoted to the first team squad at the start of this season. Currently on loan at Andover.
Gary Middleton: Released by Dorchester Town, the central or left-sided defender signed for the Whites in August 2006.
Lee Stevens: Previously with Swindon Supermarine and Fairford Town, Stevens joined Salisbury in August 2006.
Midfielders.
Alex Haddow: 8/1/82. Birthplace: Aldershot. An attacking midfielder whose previous clubs include Arsenal, Reading, Carlisle United, Vancouver, Aldershot, Slough Town and Eastleigh. Alex joined Salisbury City from Eastleigh in November 2005 after impressing during an initial loan period. A member of England's Futsal team, Alex was once player of the round in the FA Cup during his spell at Slough Town.
Mike Harris: DOB: 23/9/84. Birthplace: Winchester. Rejoined the club in the summer of 2003 having previously played for the Salisbury youth team having had spells with AFC Bournemouth Youth, Pirelli, Eastleigh and Bashley. Currently on loan with Andover. City stats: Apps 4 Goals 0.
Matt Holmes: DOB: 15/6/78. Birthplace: Southampton. Local lad signed from Bemerton Heath Harlequins in August 2003. He previously played for Winchester City, winning Wessex League and cup honours. He is a strong and competitive player, who can play in midfield or full-back. Son of manager Nick, Matt scored his first goal for the club in the first round of this season's FA Cup - on his father's birthday! City stats: Apps: 80. Goals: 1.
Christopher Knowles: DOB: 4/8/86. Birthplace: St Asaph. Promising hard-working young player signed from Bashley in August 2005. He started his career at Fairford Town and is a great prospect for the future. Recalled from a loan spell at Bashley where he has impressed many observers. City stats: Apps: 7 Goals: 0.
Luke Prince: DOB: 8/10/80. Birthplace: Oxford. Signed from Mangotsfield United in March 2006, Prince started his career at Aston Villa before having spells with Coventry City, Oxford City, Forest Green Rovers, Redditch United, Gloucester City and Team Bath, from whom he signed for Mangotsfield in 2005. Was a member of Team Bath's highly successful FA Cup side a few seasons ago. Entertaining player and a key member of City's team in the run-in to last season's title success. Wayne Turk: DOB: 21/1/81. Birthplace: Swindon. Signed in July 2000 from Cirencester Town, Wayne is a highly-rated player and a product of the Cirencester Aacademy, whom he joined on his release from Oxford United. He is a hard-working midfield player. City stats: Apps: 276 Goals: 45.
Tommy Widdrington: DOB: 1/10/71. Birthplace: Newcastle. Signed from Port Vale in February 2005, Tommy started his career with Southampton - previous clubs include Wigan, Grimsby Town, Hartlepool and Macclesfield Town, During his Football League career, he made 399 appearances and scored 24 goals. He was appointed head of coaching in summer 2005 and is a model professional whose experience and ability benefits those around him. Tommy has the distinction of playing at every one of the 92 Football League grounds. Currently sidelined through injury - dislocated his knee in the FA Cup tie at Eastleigh. City stats: Apps 69. Forwards.
Robert Matthews: DOB: 2/3/82. Birthplace: Salisbury. Rejoined the club in September 2004 from Eastleigh for an undisclosed fee, having had spells at AFC Bournemouth and Swindon Town Schools of Excellence before joining Salisbury City Youth in the 1999-2000 season. After impressing in the youth and reserve teams, he was promoted to the senior squad. Robbie left the club in November 2001 and joined Wessex League side Bemerton Heath Harlequins then moved to Eastleigh in the summer of 2002. During his time at Eastleigh he had trials with Southampton. He has great pace and a good eye for goal. Affectionately known as "Mooncat." City stats: Apps 129 Goals: 25.
Declan McGregor: DOB: 10/9/79. Birthplace: Cork. After making a sensational goalscoring debut in pre-season trials, this lively forward completed his move to City from Eircomm League Cobh Ramblers in July 2006. City stats: Apps 11. Goals: 1.
Paul Sales: DOB: 9/1/74. Birthplace: Southampton. Rejoined Salisbury in June 2005 from Eastleigh for an undisclosed fee. A naturally talented player with good touch, awareness, and an eye for goal, Paul started his career at Southampton as a junior before joining Bashley. He left them in August 1998 and had his first spell with the Whites, scoring 75 goals in 135 appearances. Paul left Salisbury City in February 2002 an rejoined Bashley for a fee of £5,000 and was the subject of a further large transfer fee when joining Eastleigh in the summer of 2003. Matt Tubbs: DOB: 15/7/84. Birthplace: Salisbury. Young forward signed from Dorchester Town in October 2003. Matt started his career as a youth player with Bolton Wanderers and went on to AFC Bournemouth. He has great pace and is an effective striker. Prolific goalscorer - he was City's top striker last season with more than 30 goals. Scored 12 in the first 12 games of this season. City stats: 132 Goals: 71.
The management team: Nick Holmes: Appointed General Manager in August 2002. A former Southampton player who spent his entire playing career with his hometown club, Nick was the youngest member of Saints 1976 FA Cup-winning side against Manchester United and was also part of the side that won promotion to the old First Division in 1978. A year later he played in another Wembley final, scoring one of the Southampton goals in a 3-2 Cup Final defeat by Nottingham Forest. By the time of his retirement in May 1987, he had made 539 appearances, a tally only bettered by Terry Paine and Mike Channon, scoring 64 goals.
Barry Blankley: Appointed assistant manager in October 2004. Barry has played for Southampton, Southend and Aldershot in the Football League and, at non league level, for Woking, Farnborough Town, Weymouth and Salisbury City. His managerial career includes spells with Weymouth, where he was player-coach, Bashley and AFC Totton. After resigning from AFC Totton in 2004, he scouted for Basingstoke Town until his appointment as assistant manager at Salisbury City.
