SALISBURY City Council says its “business as usual” for Salisbury’s charter market as work on the Market Place project finally gets underway.
Concerns have been raised that many traders will stay away during the six-month scheme to resurface and refurbish the square.
Reg Williams, city clerk said: “The market will continue to trade on both Tuesdays and Saturdays during the improvement works. We are delighted that the improvement works to the Market Place and Guildhall Square have started. Over the next few months almost all stall holders will be able to trade as normal as work begins on the Guildhall Square. However, the three stalls currently located in the Guildhall Square will be moving to alongside the diagonal path that runs across the Market Place. After that time, and as the works take place in different areas, more stalls will be moving around and further information will be made available nearer the time.”
