THE senior judge for this year’s Mere Literary Festival poetry competition will be Rose Flint, who lives in Somerset.

Flint is a prize-winning poet and author of four collections including Blue Horse of Morning and Mother of Pearl, as well as a tutor, artist and broadcaster.

Poems should be no more than 40 lines in the open, local and junior sections. The open section shortlist will also be showcased at the festival, with the chance to win extra prizes awarded by audience vote.

Entry fees for adults are £3.50 for the first poem and £3 thereafter, with the junior fees set at £1.50 /£1. There is a discount for school entries of ten or more poems.
