POLICE are appealing for more information about the theft of a chocolate Labrador in Salisbury.

George from The Chough public house was found by a woman in the Market Place on March 7 at about 7.30pm.

The woman phoned the dog warden who asked her to keep hold of him and they would arrange to collect him but she couldn’t wait. A homeless man offered to wait with the dog until they arrived.

The owner had been told where he had been found and went to collect him but the homeless man had left the city centre.

As a result of police inquiries, extensive inquiries by the owners and a big response from social media sites, George was found in Portsmouth two days later and returned home.

Wiltshire Police are keen to speak to the woman who found the dog, who was called Megan.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Mark Welch at Salisbury Police Station on 101.
