TUCKED away late at night on BBC3 is a new army comedy called Bluestone 42, about an Army bomb disposal unit in Afghanistan.

With humour reminiscent of the much loved M*A*S*H, this is a wry look at Army humour on operations.

Needless to say the MoD refused to have anything to do with its making, so it has been filmed in South Africa using SADF vehicles which are similar to some used by our guys in Afghanistan.

There has obviously been a great deal of input from former soldiers, and while some of the technical aspects might be inaccurate, the portrayal of the soldiers is good.

Not to be taken too seriously, but to be enjoyed, Bluestone 42 can be seen on Tuesdays at 2200hrs (10pm to civilians).
