Very sorry to read this news. Martyn was a true gentleman and I thoroughly enjoyed days playing cricket with him and then occasionally bumping into him along the streets of Wilton and catching up with cricket and family. My commiserations to all.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Martyn. I met Martyn 7 years ago when he sat next to me on the bus from Salisbury to Wilton. We then bumped into each other when I was working on Salisbury Market. This lead to us becoming firm friends, with Martyn visiting the market stall most weeks, matching his winter coats with the different hats he would buy. I then moved jobs to work at Whittard of Chelsea and Martyn would come to visit me there. He even made me a cake on my last day! I left Salisbury to study at Uni and we continued to send letters to each other, have frequent phone calls and catch up for coffee and cake anytime I was back in Salisbury. He even came to my 21st birthday party. Martyn was a great and wise friend and I will miss our letters and chats. I have kept every card he ever sent and if his family wanted to see these I’d be happy to share. Rest in peace Martyn.

I have such fond memories at the Junior School, with Martyn a big part of those memories as Headmaster. I was there from 1974 to 1978. Very sad news.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Mr White. He was an amazing man and a wonderful headmaster at Harnham Junior School. I had the honour of also playing cricket at Wilton too. Rest in peace Martyn, the worlds loss is heavens gain.
