Many will remember him for his love of sport - for decades running the Wilton Tennis Club and also playing cricket, bowls, badminton and, in his earlier years, football and refereeing.
He spend much of his working life travelling the south of England selling hardware and when younger had worked in a garage and a butcher's shop in villages to the west of Wilton.
After the 2WW he served with REME as a tank transporter driver, recovering military machinery in Germany.
He was born in Fisherton de la Mere but spent most of his life in Wilton with his beloved wife, Violet, (Vee), who survives him, with children Trevor and Vanessa; grandchildren Adam, Emma, Christopher, Charlotte and Rachel and six great-grandchildren.

Rest in Peace
