LEGENDARY singer/songwriter Van Morrison has been confirmed to headline this year’s Larmer Tree Festival.

Van the Man will be performing on the first night of the five-day festival, which is held near Tollard Royal, on Wednesday, July 17.

It has been more than a decade since Morrison – whose combinations of American blues, country and gospel with jazz, soul and Celtic folk have seen him hailed as one of popular music’s greatest innovators – has performed at Larmer Tree.

Festival co-director and music programmer James Shepard said: “We’re thrilled to announce Van Morrison as our Wednesday night headliner.

“The reaction from our loyal audience has already been overwhelming; it’s certainly going to be a night to remember.”

Morrison joins Dexys, Seasick Steve, Bellowhead and KT Tunstall on the bill, with the Saturday night headliner still to be announced.

The festival includes more than 100 bands and acts, a comedy club, free workshops and activities for children.
