HISTORIAN James Holland’s recently published book, The Battle of Britain: Five Months that Changed History May-October 1940, will form the basis for a television film to be screened in September.
James, pictured, who was born in Salisbury, and lives in the Chalke Valley, has written the script for the film which is being produced by historian Michael Wood for BBC 2.
His book on The Battle of Britain is unusual, in that it tells the story from all sides and draws on extensive new research from around the world, including severalinterviews with former Luftwaffe pilots.
The Battle of Britain is James Holland’s fifth historical work of non-fiction. Two works of fiction, The Burning Blue and A Pair of Silver Wings, are set during World War Two.
The Battle of Britain is published by Bantam Books, priced £25 and is available from Cross Keys Bookshop and Waterstones in Salisbury.
* Anne Morris recently interviewed James Holland in his Chalke Valley home – this will be published in the August edition of Wiltshire Society magazine.
