MISTAKEN identities, cross-dressing, slapstick comedy, romance and even a duel – all this and more in Carlo Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters, this year’s open-air production by The Maskers Theatre Company.
Performed in the lovely setting of Hamptworth Lodge in Landford, The Servant of Two Masters is one of the great classic commedia dell’arte plays (improvised Italian comedy).
The Servant of Two Masters tells the hilarious story of servant Truffaldino who gets himself into complications by taking jobs with two different people at the same time.
Not all the complications are of his making, one of his masters is a woman in disguise and the other is her lover, but Truffaldino does not know this.
The Masters Theatre Company is based in Southampton and was formed nearly 45 years ago. Picnics are welcome prior to each performance which starts at 7.30pm and the production runs from July 14 to July 24 (there are no performances on July 19 and a matinee is being performed on July 18.
Tickets from Ticket South on 02380 711818.
