SHAMELESS PART 2, SALISBURY ARTS CENTRE
LAST Thursday saw another evening of musical mayhem at the arts centre, offered up by the students of Salisbury College, with some fine local talent on show.
The audience was literally bombarded from beginning to end with engaging performances, with the two-stage set up ensuring there was no let-up, not that anyone wanted one of course.
New to the Salisbury scene are Jet Pack Invicta, a five-piece explosion of energy and sound who rocked the foundations of the arts centre while carrying out a skilfully-crafted attack on your ears. They refer to their musical style as “Brit Grit” and who am I to argue; it’s heavy, it’s powerful, it’s probably not something your nan would listen to, and it’s extremely well delivered.
The guys put their all into each and every song, and this was an all-action performance you couldn’t help but be impressed by.
Headlining the event were punk-rockers Go Vegas. These guys have taken a new “dirtier” direction in recent times, and the songs are as thoughtfully structured and well written as ever.
I was always a big fan of their older material, when they were more “pop” than “punk”, but it seems no matter which direction they take their music, it’s sure to be a success.
Go Vegas are a talented bunch and delivered an accomplished set once again to round off a thoroughly entertaining night. Also playing were This Illusion, Chasing Hollywood, Speak Your Heart and Caught in Crossfire.
