THE actress Imogen Stubbs has been cast as Amanda Wingfield in Salisbury Playhouse’s co-production with Shared Experience of Tennessee Williams’ play, The Glass Menagerie.
Directed by Polly Teale, the production opens in Salisbury in March 2010 before embarking on a national tour.
Imogen Stubbs’ extensive acting credits include BBC television’s production of D H Lawrence’s novel, The Rainbow, the film Jack & Sarah, Harold Pinter’s play Betrayal at the National Theatre and Patrick Marber’s play, Closer, in London’s West End. She will be leading the cast as Amanda Wingfield in this autobiographical play offering a compelling portrait of a family in crisis in St Louis set at the heart of the American depression.
Shared Experience has produced many highly acclaimed productions including the 2009 production of Brecht’s Caucasian Chalk Circle as well as adaptations of Jane Eyre and After Mrs Rochester.
The Glass Menagerie opens at Salisbury Playhouse on Thursday, March 4 and runs until Saturday, March 20 before touring to Liverpool, Cambridge, Oxford and Glasgow as well as other venues.
