SALISBURY Playhouse’s production, A Month in the Country, which premiered last October, has been nominated for best lighting design by Tim Mitchell in the prestigious 2009 Theatre Management Awards (TMA).
Playhouse artistic director, Philip Wilson, adapted and directed J L Carr’s novel for the main house stage to both audience and critical acclaim.
Tim Mitchell is one of the country’s leading lighting designers for theatre.
His recent work has included Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company (starring David Tennant) and the West End musical, Dirty Dancing.
Since replacing the 30-year-old, and largely decommissioned, lighting desk and system in 2008 with new £250,000 state-of-the-art equipment, the theatre has been able to attract the very best lighting designers in the country, creating even more advanced light designs for productions.
The 2009 TMA awards will be announced at a ceremony in London on Sunday, November 1.
