SALISBURY was treated to award winning comic Mary Bourke, last Friday at the Art Centre.
Barnstormers' headline act oozed a cool confidence.
Her feline poise and warm, lilting, Dublin accent lulled you into a false sense of security.
Close your eyes and you could be at a poetry book recital. Then boom, you get a gutsy punchline.
Men who own velcro wallets, tinder.com, hip hop and Femfresh were among her targets.
We were offered exciting new material when she dipped into her notes occasionally.
Some jokes were acerbic. She's thought to be a feminist, perhaps because she pokes fun at men and a patriarchal society.
But she also ridicules women who use feminism to get their way.
So everyone laughed, some men admittedly a little self consciously at times, and some women perhaps a little too much.
But overall, the audience loved her, and had a very enjoyable evening.
