LARKHILL MEDICAL CENTRE OPENED
The official opening of the Larkhill Medical and Dental Centre took place las Wednesday (30th November) signifying the end of the Army Basing Programme
This £13M facility is the first joint MOD and NHS Primary Healthcare Facility in Wiltshire and offers offer a shared MOD and NHS Primary Healthcare provision.
The centre comprises of two GP practices (MOD and NHS) with consulting and treatment rooms and each practice also has a dispensary. Housed within the building is a Defence Primary Health Care (DPHC) Dental Centre consisting of 12 dental chairs with supporting equipment.
Opening the Centre, Minister for Defence Personnel, Veterans and Service Families Dr. Andrew Murrison said: “I was delighted to open the Larkhill Medical and Dental Centre. It is truly state-of-the-art and it rightly provides the very best primary care facilities and is a model for Defence-NHS cooperation.”
“It has been incredibly useful to see first-hand how this investment has not only benefitted our Service personnel but also the local community.”
ST ELIGIUS DAY CELEBRATIONS
Tidworth based 6 Close Support Battalion REME celebrated the Corps Day with a St Eligius Day Engineering Competition.
Each Platoon was issued a scrap car from Grist Scrap yard, riddled with faults, that they had to remedy through BDR techniques. Repair by Repair. After a physical competition put on by the PTIs each team then had to complete an agility course in their vehicle, protecting their burden to win maximum points. The competition was won by Forward Y Platoon
To top off St Eligius Day celebrations, 3 Armoured Company held a workshop top table dinner night.
BOXER ARRIVES IN THE GARRISON
Last week for two days 4 Battalion REME and wider 12 Armoured Brigade Combat Team units had the opportunity to get their hands on a Boxer and learn all about the kit that their soldiers will be maintaining and operating on in the near future.
The first deliveries to Bulford based 1 MERCIAN are expected early in 2023.

26 Engineer Regiment were crowned Army Water Polo Champions after winning the Inter Unit Championships last week
