HOMESENSE has issued a statement about its decision to leave Salisbury when its lease at Churchill Way West Retail Park expires in early-2025.

Plans have been submitted to bring a new Lidl supermarket to the retail park to replace Homesense and Smyths Toys, which will vacate their units in January and February.

James Mitchell, regional head of property at Lidl GB, said: “We’re thrilled to announce our plans for a second store in Salisbury.

“The demand for our high-quality, best-value products continues to grow, and we’re eager to make shopping even more convenient for customers, with our new store ideally located to serve residents in the north and west of Salisbury.”

Homesense is part of TJX International, which also owns TK Maxx. Under this partnership, staff at Homesense could be offered roles at the TK Maxx store in the Cross Keys Shopping Centre “if possible”.

In a statement issued to the Salisbury Journal, a company spokesperson said: “This year, TK Maxx proudly celebrates 30 years on the UK high street.

“Our shoppers love both TK Maxx and Homesense, and we continue to invest in communities nationwide through new store openings, relocations, and modernising our existing stores. 

“Occasionally, we must make the difficult decision to close a store when its lease ends or cannot be renewed.

“In such cases, where possible, we offer roles to all associates in nearby Homesense or TK Maxx stores. 

“We thank our loyal customers and associates and look forward to welcoming them to TK Maxx Salisbury in Cross Keys Arcade.

“Here, they can discover high-quality, top-brand homeware, fashion, gifts, and childrenswear, all at amazing value.

“Customers can also shop online at TKMaxx.com or find their nearest store at HomeSense.com or TKMaxx.com.”

When Salisbury's Homesense shuts, its nearest stores will be in Southampton (Above Bar Street) and Bournemouth (Castlepoint Shopping Centre).
