'The home of wine and cheese in Salisbury' is the place to be this wine and cheese day (July 25), offering over 70 wines and an assortment of cheeses for a delectable evening out.

Maul’s Wine and Cheese Bar, on 3 Fish Row, is run by Andy Maul, and is Salisbury's only cheesemonger.

The bar opened in December 2017 and since then, wine prices have not changed – despite the changing economic climate.

The team pride themselves on being “the most affordable, highest quality wine in the city” with all glasses of wine costing no more than £10 a glass – including champagne.

The 15th century building is beautifully decorated with fairy lights and wooden stalls, and the cheese boards are no exception, with each cheeseboard labelled on slates, decorated with edible flowers, bread, crackers and a garnish.

July 25 is cheese and wine day, and Andy has shared his recommendations with the Journal for the best pairs: goats cheese – notably Wensum White - and sauvignon blanc; orange wine with black garlic Manchego; champagne with Brilliat-Savarin and Stilton with Cabarnet Sauvignon.

Andy said: "If you come in for a night out, you’re going to expect the best atmosphere, the best customer service and the best wine and cheese in Salisbury."
