A new home goods shop is set to soon open in the former location of Tiger on Butcher Row, which has stood empty since December 2022.
Home Store, selling goods such as cookware, luggage, kettles and other household goods will open for the first time at 11am on Wednesday, January 31. Regular hours thereafter will be 9am to 6pm every day.
The shop is the first business Alamgir Khan, 37, has ever operated. He said owning his own business has been an ambition of his since he first moved to the UK from Karachi, Pakistan 11 years ago and began working at a home goods store in London.

Alamgir said: “I had an imagination that one day I would do that. This is like a dream come true.”
Alamgir first heard that the space was available in November and decided it would be a good location for him to realise his dream for which he has been saving money for a decade, recognising a gap in the market for home goods in Salisbury.
Alamgir said: “I didn’t want to go into the clothes business because Primark has everything. I didn’t want to go with the groceries because Tesco has everything. But this is the kind of shop I would say is required in Salisbury.”
