ONE of the longest-standing fairs in the country is coming to Tidworth next month giving residents the opportunity to indulge in a little pre-season Christmas shopping.

The Early, Early Christmas Fair (EECF) returns on Tuesday, September 26 and continues to increase each year and has become a flagship event for The Soldiers Charity (ABF).

Caroline Cary said: “It is uplifting that so many loyal supporters and customers return each year. It is heart-warming to see people who were posted locally then come back, even when they have moved to the other side of the country.”

This year, the theme is all about community.  It is anticipated to be a fun atmosphere with many marquees and stalls and each year there is a drive to do more to ensure it is a good day out.

Caroline said: “Community is so much more than where you live and who our neighbours are. It is more significant than that – it is about the tribe, common interests, a sense of belonging, and everyday experiences which you share with others.

“The footfall has increased year on year as the word gets out about the event and people share the date with a wider and wider audience.”

The Early, Early Christmas Fair is one of the first events in the lead-up to the festive shopping season.

There are new businesses and stalls will be overflowing with new ideas and an Aladdin’s Cave of goodies at the start of the season and more than 120 hand-picked shops. Customers can enjoy home-baked cakes, healthy lunches along with coffee and tea plus free parking.

Caroline said: “According to studies, shopping causes your brain to release more serotonin, a feel-good chemical, which is why we are drawn to and engage in a bit of retail therapy.”

The event will take place at the Polo Ground, at Tedworth Park, Tidworth and will be open on Tuesday, September 26 from 2pm – 9.30pm and on Wednesday, September 27 from 9.30am – 4pm.
