YOUNG people across the county can have a go at being a radio station producer, making jewellery, designing Tshirts and event planning for a skate park at the Have a Go Skills event in Trowbridge this month.

Held at Trowbridge Civic Centre on March 14, the event will offer Year 10 to Year 13 students, and other young people aged up to 24 years, the chance to try out different jobs and get help and advice about future careers.

Open from 10am to 6pm those attending will also have the chance to take part in CV writing and interview skills support seminars and apprentice/ employer speed dating.

The Have a Go Skills session, which was originally planned over two days at Salisbury Racecourse and Trowbridge, has now been amalgamated into one county-wide event.

Fleur de Rhe Philipe, cabinet member for economy, said: “It’s a chance for employers and training providers to give their expert information, advice and support to these young people.

“This is the age they will start thinking about their school options and future careers, so coming here and learning what skills and qualifications they will need is a good start.”
