A golf club charity day has raised thousands of pounds for a leading cardiac charity.

A grand total of £22,600 was raised for Heartbeat in the annual Remedy Oak Charity Golf Day on May 7.

The event, now in its 14th year, was hosted at the Remedy Oak Golf Club and sponsored by Peter Cooper Motor Group (PCMG) who offered attractive prizes like a BMW Mini for a hole-in-one.

This year, the charity event included 22 competing teams for the esteemed Jim Monro Memorial Trophy with the picturesque Verwood landscape as their background.

Ross Holiday emerged victorious, bagging the trophy while the team from Lee Peck Media and Hi-Acre Construction nabbed the second and third places respectively.

The Remedy Oak Golf Course, nestled in 256 acres of Dorset woodland, is an 18-hole, par 72 course ranked the third best in South England.

Adding a touch of glamour to the event were guests ‘Tiff’ Needell, former British racing driver and TV presenter, and ex-Saints star, James Beattie, a patron of Heartbeat.

The day kicked off with bacon rolls and coffee before participants headed to the Heartbeat half-way house gin bar for further refreshments. The day concluded with a three-course dinner, prize-giving, charity raffle and auction.

Among the coveted auction prizes were another round at Remedy Oak for a team of four and a chance to compete at Boundary Lakes followed by a midweek T20 match at the Utilita Bowl.

Proceeds from the day were dedicated to Heartbeat's new project to purchase carpets for the Rotary Heartbeat House at the University Hospital Southampton.

Golfers were given the opportunity to sponsor a bedroom in the cardiac home and, in return, the charity pledged to display their company's logo on a special plaque outside their sponsored room.

Heartbeat, a prominent charity based in Southampton, supports newborns, children and adults suffering from congenital and cardiovascular diseases.

They work in collaboration with the Wessex Cardiac Unit at University Hospital Southampton.

The funds raised will be utilised to offer specialised equipment, services and facilities for both patients and their families, effectively helping them through their cardiac journey.

Mark Ind, chief executive of Heartbeat, said: "Special thanks go to all our teams and the great Remedy team who always put on a fantastic day for us at this prestigious course. Thank you to everyone who supported us today."
