SALISBURY City have signed former Newport County striker Charlie Griffin on a non-contract basis and could be part of the squad for tomorrow's opening Blue Square Premier match with Burton Albion, subject to the club gaining international clearance.
The well-travelled Bath-born player has previously been on the books of Swindon Town, Yeovil Town, Woking, Havant & Waterlooville, Chippenham Town, Forest Green Rovers and Wycombe Wanderers.
The 29-year-old made his Newport debut in February 2007 and scored 28 goals in 70 appearances for the Welsh side.
He has been allocated City's number 18 shirt for the 2008/09 season.
