SALISBURY City showed true grit to defeat Eastleigh 1-0 in a heated derby at the Ray Mac.
City had two players dismissed midway through the second half but still outgunned the Spitfires who looked devoid of ideas on how to make their two-man advantage pay dividends.
Robbie Matthews forced a corner in the 80th minute and Luke Prince's cross was bundled home through a crowded six yard box by Tim Bond.
Tommy Widdrington saw red for a late challenge, however Ian Oliver who kicked out at the City midfielder escaped unpunished.
Matt Tubbs, who had earlier been shown a yellow card, was also sent off after allegedly retaliating to serious provocation by a member of the Eastleigh dug out team.
The nine men showed tremendous team spirit and could easily have added to their lead when Matthews broke through only to blast the ball wide.
