WELCOME to everyone for our first taste of football at the Ray Mac this season.
The big kick off is now only two weeks away and our fitness has gradually improved for that important first game.
Our squad is large and there will be a fight for all positions for the starting berth on August 11.
Today will be your first chance to see new signings Liam Feeney, Darrell Clarke and James Bittner. We have also taken on Jamie Barron and Chris Weedon, a couple of young lads who we feel have a great chance of breaking through within a couple of years.
There are the normal setbacks with injury already. Matt Tubbs is recovering quickly from his knee operation and will hopefully be ready by the start.
Marvin Brown is having seven days rest on his knee so he should also be fit for the first game.
Tim Bond will be keen to get some minutes under his belt today after picking up a groin strain in a practice match.
Behind the scenes John Robson is running the reserves this year after a successful youth campaign last season, with assistance from Simon Browne who will also be registered for the Blue Square Premier.
Neil Benson has taken over as youth team manager and coach. Andy Cook is working the treatment room during the day sessions with Polly and Kev Bushby helping out with the night ones.
Today is a special day with many old familiar faces being present.
To celebrate our 60 years in existence and the launch of the book, many ex-players will be introduced to you all at half-time.
Many showed extended loyalty to this club through that time, not disimilar to some of the boys you will see play against AFC Wimbledon today - a special breed and the supporters should be very proud of them.
Thanks to all the Wimbledon staff, players and supporters for visiting us today.
You are also a loyal breed of special people after what has happened with you over the last few years.
Good luck in your resurgence. Your support deserves it.
Nick Holmes.
