SALISBURY City's Alex Haddow netted England's opening goal in their UEFA Futsal Championship Preliminary Round match against Romania last night.
Unfortunately, the highly-rated Romanians, who are hosting the Group B matches, eventually ran out 9-2 victors.
The result was not unexpected - Romania's team is full of professional Futsal players and they are the strong favourites to win the group, which also contains Latvia and Bulgaria.
Haddow's fellow Conference South player Darren Budd, of Bognor Regis Town, netted England's second in front of a capacity crowd at the Municipal Stadium in Deva.
Haddow's goal was his fifth in just seven appearances for his country.
England's second game takes place tonight (Friday) when they take on Latvia, who last night beat Bulgaria 2-0.
England then play Bulgaria on Sunday.
