YOUNGSTERS at a Fordingbridge school have gone multilingual to reach the semi-finals in a Europe-wide contest.
Year 6 pupils from Forres Sandle Manor were tasked to learn Portuguese in three months last year, for the Eurotalk Junior Language Challenge.
They had to complete a series of online tests to go through to the next stage, and Charlie Ford, Toby Thornton and Finn Robinson beat hundreds of other hopefuls to qualify for the 2011 semi-finals at Sherfield School in Hook next Wednesday.
Over the summer holidays they have been learning Kazakh for the competition. The three top-scoring pupils from each of the 13 regions in the UK will then be chosen to go through to the grand final in London in October.
