THE national spotlight will shine on two antiques shops in Ringwood and Burley when they appear on a BBC TV show early next year.
Lorraine Tarrant of Lorraine Tarrant Antiques and Vanessa Batchelor of the Magpie's Nest in Burley have been filmed for the BBC2 series Antiques Road Trip, which is due to be broadcast in February 2012.
Presenters Mark Stacey and Marjorie Shelly and their camera crew went knocking on the doors of both shops to hunt for hidden treasures for the weekday programme.
Lorraine said: “It was brilliant. They rang me out of the blue and asked if they could use my shop in their television series. Well, of course I was delighted.
“They loved the shop. Mark thought it was intriguing and fascinating.
“He found a couple of things which caught his eye and he bought them for the show.
“I would love to say what they were but people will have to wait until the programme to find out. I just hope that he makes a profit when he takes them to auction.
“Mark drives a hard bargain and is a real rogue for knocking you down on your price. We had a giggle. It was such fun. They were here for about three hours.
“I can't wait to see it on TV.”
The film crew then descended on Burley to pay a visit to china specialist Mrs Batchelor.
She said: “It was great. Madge found something to buy and then the pair roared off with one of our famous ice-creams.”
Antiques experts from the show set off on a road trip around the UK searching for treasures and competing to make the most money at auction.
