A NEW honorary recorder for the city of Salisbury has been appointed to represent the judiciary at civic events.
Judge Andrew Barnett, who went to school in Wiltshire and has lived in Salisbury for 23 years, takes over from Judge Keith Cutler.
He has served in law courts across the south west for 26 years, and will continue to sit at Salisbury law courts.
City mayor Brian Dalton, said: “It is a great honour to appoint Judge Barnett to this role.
“We, of course, offer our sincere gratitude to Judge Cutler and his wife for their involvement in city life and I look forward to welcoming Judge Barnett and his wife to our next civic occasion.”
The honorary recorder is a traditional role dating back to medieval times, providing a link between the city and the judiciary.
