AROUND 40 firefighters have tackled a blaze at a landfill site in Verwood.
Crews from across Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight were called to the Onyx landfill site off the B3081 shortly after 9pm on Monday.
A pumping system was set up at the entrance to Ebblake Industrial Estate and along the B3081 to supply water to the site.
At the height of the incident, there were approximately 40 firefighters working to contain the fire.
At 2am, the response was scaled back.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday morning, Ferndown Fire Station said: "21P1 was mobilised to a large landfill fire in Verwood yesterday evening.
"Crews from across Dorset and Wiltshire, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight fire services worked throughout the night to extinguish the blaze.
"Multiple off-road appliances, operational support units, and a high volume pump were used at this incident."
Following the incident, residents of Verwood were told they may experience a reduction in mains water pressure.
A spokesperson for Verwood Fire Station said on Tuesday: "This morning, you may have noticed a reduction in mains water pressure, this is likely because we set up a high volume pumping system to supply water to the fire ground.
"You will see this equipment at the entrance to the Ebblake Industrial Estate and along the B3081."
