FIVE fire crews attended to a combine harvester found "well alight" earlier this evening.
The fire had also spread to the surrounding crops in the field behind the Cattle Market, on Netherhampton Road.
At 6.43pm, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service started to receive calls for a combine harvester on fire off Netherhampton Road, Netherhampton.
Two crews from Salisbury Fire Station and one from Wilton attended initially, along with a water carrier from Wilton Fire Station.
After their arrival they requested further assistance of a water carrier from Andover, Hampshire and a fire engine from Fordingbridge.
The combine harvester was "well alight" when the first crews arrived, and the fire had spread to surrounding crops in the field.
The smoke plume was also large and could be seen from some distance away.
The fire was extinguished using two jets, two hose reels, beaters and drags. On site farm machinery was also used to create a fire break to help extinguish the fire.
