IT is two weeks to go until the official switch-on of the Christmas lights in Salisbury.
The annual event on Thursday, November 19 will be changed for this year as a high-tech video display replaces the traditional fireworks.
A decision to replace the fireworks was made earlier this year as the Guildhall roof is currently undergoing renovation work.
Organised by Salisbury City Council the free event in the Market Place marks the start of the late night festive shopping in the city centre.
This year will showcase performances from Faux with their Indie/Alternative Rock mix, a performance from Starcast Performing Arts School and cover band Break Cover.
Father Christmas will also make a guest appearance accompanied by the Mayor of Salisbury Cllr Andrew Roberts and the Dean of Salisbury The Very Reverend June Osborne will give a blessing on the evening.
"It is going to be completely different from the fireworks," Cllr Roberts said. "It looks very impressive and is something new, I think people will really enjoy the show."
The countdown to the actual switching on of the City lights starts at approximately 7pm followed by the light projection show with stage pyrotechnics. There will also be a number of snow machines around the square to add to the festive feel.
