James Elliott May 9th, 2024
Molly was long associated with the Veterinary Profession and many in the New Forest area will have had the benefit of her caring professionalism. Her career started in 1968 with Dick Orton and Dick Allen, the then Orton and Allen Veterinary Practice, in Park Road, Fordinbridge where life was much more reminiscent of James Herriot compared to the modern day. Although she was engaged on the clerical side she quickly progressed to chief organiser and practice guru. Molly would be roped in to almost every aspect of the job - from holding bits of patient for the vet to mend through to chasing cows around a farm yard, all quite apart from her official duties. Following the retirement of her original employers she followed some of her colleagues to the then fledgling Midforest Veterinary Practice in Lyndhurst in the late 1980's. She remained a very loyal and steadfast member of that team until 2019, a very maternal figure to clients and staff alike. Latterly she worked from home where was the reassuring voice of the out of hours emergency service that so many clients were very grateful to hear in their hour of need. Molly was of a generation where service was all and nothing was ever too much trouble, even at 3 o'clock in the morning! Our condolences go out to all her family and friends
