"I AM alive.” Those are the words of a model who will now be spending Christmas at home weeks after she was critically injured in an alleged hit-and-run attack.
Faye Townsend was left fighting for her life after she suffered severe head injuries when a car ploughed into her while she was walking through West Wellow.
Only weeks ago friends and family of the 23-year old gathered round her hospital bed at Southampton General Hospital and prayed for her to pull through.
But now she has recovered enough to go home and her friends have been contacting her on social media wishing her a “speedy recovery”.
She posted on her Facebook page "I am alive" - a statement that attracted hundreds of likes from friends, family and well-wishers.
One friend, Chelsea Philps, said: “I’m so happy you’re home, you’re a fighter.”
Hannah Cozens said: “So happy, you never gave up fighting! Xx”
Officers still want people to come forward to help them with their investigation.
One week after the crash they visited the site of the crash at Tutts Lane in order to speak to people who may have seen what happened at about 1.45pm on Tuesday December 1.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We are reliant upon information received from members of the public to progress investigations and we would still like to hear from anyone who has private CCTV systems in either area, which may have captured footage of a white Nissan Micra driving erratically on Tuesday, December 1.”
They are still keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the Nissan after the collision in the Calmore Road, Calmore Drive, or Richmond Close areas.
The car was later recovered for examination in Calmore.
The incident left the model and dancer with severe head injuries as she was walking towards Groves Down.
Officers believe the car deliberately driven at her by someone understood to have been known to her.
An 18-year-old Totton girl was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has since been released on bail pending further police investigations.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Hampshire Police on 101.
